Boise Airport Anticipates Increased Passenger Traffic this Spring Break
The Boise Airport continues a trajectory of exponential growth, hitting a record for total passenger traffic in 2022 of nearly 4.5 million passengers. As area schools plan to close for Spring Break during the last two weeks of March, the airport is expecting to continue this trend and welcome more than 200,000 passengers over that timeframe. If you are planning to visit the Boise Airport at the end of March, please be aware of the following for a seamless travel experience:
ARRIVE EARLY
Arrive 1.5 hours early if you are being dropped off at the airport or two hours early if you plan to park. Remember that parking may include a shuttle ride from the Economy Lot to the terminal. Planning accordingly will give you ample time to check-in with your airline and clear the security checkpoint before your flight.
AIRPORT PARKING WILL BE LIMITED
BOI Upgrade, the airport’s multiyear expansion project, is currently underway, which includes construction of a new public parking garage that is expected to open this summer. Due to unprecedented growth in the Treasure Valley and a record number of passengers, close-in terminal parking is limited.
Check the live feed of available parking capacity on the airport’s parking webpage before you start driving to help make an informed decision about where you may find parking. If you choose to drive yourself to the airport it is likely you will need to utilize the newly expanded Economy Parking Lot.
The Economy Parking Lot is located at Victory and Orchard (5600 W. Victory Rd.) and is serviced by a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes. Feeling crunched for time? Curbside valet, operated by local company The CarPark, is available on the east end of the upper curb. The Boise Airport recommends travelers make an online reservation in advance of your arrival to guarantee your spot. Reservations can be made here.
CHECK WITH YOUR AIRLINE
Prior to arriving at BOI, please check the status of your flight with your airline. Passengers should also consider signing up for automated airline flight status alerts through their airline that can be sent directly to their smart phone and downloading a digital boarding pass.
PACK SMART
To avoid delays, passengers should view TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page and begin packing with a bag that is empty to ensure you do not have any prohibited items. Do not attempt to bring a firearm through a TSA checkpoint. Other prohibited items include explosives, flammables, knives, razors, replica weapons and more.
