American Airlines Begins Nonstop Service to Dallas

Boise, Idaho - The Boise Airport held a ribbon cutting ceremony for American Airlines' new nonstop service from Boise to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport this morning. The inaugural flight included a ceremonial water arch, where the Boise Fire Department Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting team created an arch of water over the plane as it taxied to the runway.

"We're extremely pleased to add Dallas to our network of 20 nonstop routes, and continue our strong partnership with American Airlines," said Boise Airport Director Rebecca Hupp. "With this addition, we now have nonstop service to nearly every major hub in the western and mid-western United States."

The ribbon cutting ceremony, attended by local leaders, was held at American Airlines' gate as passengers boarded the first flight.

Bill Connors, President and CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce said, "The Boise Chamber, and the entire business community are pleased with American Airlines investment in Boise by adding a nonstop to their largest global hub in Dallas. The Boise Airport should be commended for adding another major world hub to its nonstop portfolio, Boise is now one stop or less to the major business centers of the world. For a city our size, our global connectivity is second to none."

"The introduction of this new route is a testament to the strengthening of Boise's economy," said Boise City Council President Elaine Clegg. "Passenger growth at the Boise Airport is outpacing the national average, leading to increased air service, and reinforces what we are seeing with growth downtown and in other areas around the city.

The daily flight is operated by American Airlines using a 128 seat Airbus A319 aircraft.

American Airlines now serves two destinations from Boise; Phoenix and Dallas.
